While California and the rest of the West is headed into what looks to be a wave of blistering heat over the 4^th of July holiday weekend, this was not the case for most of last month.  Strong heat settled over much of the country for several periods in June, especially the Northeast, but for the West temperatures remained on the cool side until the final week of the month.  Comparing the daily average temperature to the 7-year average, California sat just below normal up through the 21^st of June before warming to finish off the month.  The result was CAISO load numbers pushing above 27 GW for the monthly average—3 GW higher than June of last year but still 900 MW behind June of 2022.  Regardless, it constituted a rise of 4.1 GW from May and was key to the changes in pricing and midday oversupply that has plagued Southern California for most of the year up to this point
