Renewable conversations over the past few years have been tied to the solar capacity growth and the implementation of flexible batteries to smooth the hourly profile out and add capacity to both the morning and evening ramp periods.  The renewable component that has taken a backseat per se is that of wind generation as the capacity growth has slowed and the conversations are minimal given the status of offshore facilities and the notion of structural load growth that needs consistent volume output throughout the 24 hour block.  Despite the lack of growth in this sector, the hourly profile can have a big impact on the grid operations as Mother Nature seems to be toying with the idea of volatile weather patterns that include strong wind patterns and oscillating jet streams.

Since the beginning of March, the wind generation across all North America has proven to be quite impactful as many regional profiles are riding a three year high with some exceeding the past two years by a large margin......
