Our path to unrivaled expertise in electricity, natural gas & renewables
Energy GPS co-founders, Jeff Richter and Tim Belden, met in the 90s while working at Enron where they turned their knowledge of fundamental analysis into profitable trades.
After leaving Enron, Jeff and Tim took different paths: while Jeff delved deeper into natural gas at Bentek, Tim took on a role in renewables development.
As the energy transition began to unfold, the two friends realized their combined expertise – and deep understanding of the interplay between the wholesale, natural gas, and renewable energy worlds – was the key to helping their clients navigate the new challenges they were suddenly facing.
Since opening their doors in 2009, the Energy GPS team has grown from a team of two to a team of 21 that continues to use Tim and Jeff’s unique blend of real-world experience, obsession with data, and commitment to clarity to help clients make smarter, more informed decisions.

The program offers an immersive, fully-paid educational experience for students from underrepresented backgrounds where they’ll gain insights and experience in the dynamic world of the energy markets.
