January delivered snow to the deep south as both the Gulf of Mexico states and the shorelines of Texas received inches that stuck around until warmer temperatures swooped in and melted it all within a 24-hour span. Prior to the precipitation event, colder temperatures were blanketing North America, but Mother Nature was nice enough to keep the precipitation away and carry bright blue skies.

This led to a combination of events that saw the natural gas landscape lose production volume due to operations being halted or freeze-offs occurring as temperatures plummeted across Rockies, Northeast and West Texas while the electricity sector was able to capture both wind and solar generation that helped propel stability to its grid and keep the power burn volume from getting out of hand in the natural gas space......
